Overview

M.Sc. Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course that deals with the study of advanced nursing subjects, clinical nursing, nursing education, research, statistics, etc.  The postgraduate Nursing Program propels the student to explore and grow in the right direction. The course concentrates on expanding research and evidence-based evaluation skills among students. These skills are essential in clinical practice and future leadership. It also enhances the career opportunities of postgraduates in research and academics. The curriculum followed would be as per the guidelines laid down by U.P. State Medical Faculty and University. The medium of instruction is English.On Completion of the two-year M.Sc. The nursing programme, the graduate will be able to:-

  1. Utilize/apply the concepts, theories and principles of nursing science
  2. Demonstrate advanced competence in the practice of nursing
  3. Practice as a nurse specialist.
  4. Demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as a nurse educator and manager.
  5. Demonstrate skill in conducting nursing research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health-related research.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in nursing practice and in the health care delivery system.
  7. Establish collaborative relationships with members of other disciplines
  8. Demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement.

This program prepares students for a wide range of job opportunities, such as Nursing Instructor, Staff Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Assistant, ICU Nurse, Clinical Nurse Manager, Ward Nurse, Tutor, Paramedic Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse, Nursing Tutor, Nursing In-Charge, Nursing Executive, Dietician, Medical Advisor, Clinical Instructor, Anesthesia Nurse, etc. This programme provides the basis for the post-master programme in nursing. Further, the programme encourages accountability and commitment to lifelong learning which fosters the improvement of quality care.

Eligibility

  • The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
  • The minimum educational requirement shall be the passing of a B.Sc. Nursing /B. Sc. Hons Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
  • The candidate should have undergone B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Hons. Nursing /Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  • Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • Minimum one-year work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • Candidates shall be medically fit.
  • 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidates may be given.
  • Selection of the candidates shall be based on the merit of the entrance examination.

Course Fee

Fees are as per regulation of the U.P. State Medical Faculty: Rs 153,000 / Year

All the fees should be paid in the form of a Cash/Demand Draft drawn in favour of Rajshree Nursing Institute payable at Bareilly.

Fees must be deposited as per the fees schedule.

Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Hostel fees is payable by those students, who will be provided hostel accommodation.

Documents required while submitting application forms for M.Sc. Nursing Programs:

The selection of students to Rajshree Nursing Institute, Bareilly shall be as per norms of U.P. State Medical Faculty, Lucknow based on the merit of the candidate who satisfies the eligibility conditions as mentioned below:

Regulations for examination:

Eligibility for appearing for the examination:

  • 75% of the attendance ( theory and practical)
  • 100% of attendance for practice before the award of the degree

Classification of results:

  • 50% pass in each of the theory and practical separately.
  • 50-59% Second division
  • 60-74% first division
  • 75% and above is a distinction
  • For announcing the rank cumulative of 2 years marks to be reflected.
  • If the applicant fails in any practical or theory paper he/she has to reappear for both papers (theory and practical)
  • Maximum three (3) attempts per subject) inclusive of the first attempt.
  • The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not go beyond 4 years
  • Applicant, who fails in any subject, shall be allowed to continue the studies into the second year. Though the applicant shall not be permissible to appear for the Second year examination till such time that he/she passes all subjects of the first year M.Sc nursing examination

Practical

  • 4 hours of practical examination per student.
  • The examination will be held in the clinical area only for clinical specialities
  • M.Sc nursing. Dissertation Evaluation of the dissertation will be done by the examiner prior to viva

Duration: Viva-voce -minimum 30 minutes per student
