Forensic medicine is a branch of medicine which deals with application of medical knowledge in the administration of justice& toxicology. The objectives of the department of Forensic Medicine at Rajshree Medical Research institute is to provide knowledge of law in relation to medical practice, medical negligence and in respect for codes of medical ethics and consumer protection act. The purposeof this department is to enable the medical students capable of making observations and inferring conclusions by logical deductions to set enquiries on the right track and create an interest in the research in relation to various medico- legal problems.
Pedagogy & Facilities
The department uses innovative learning methods like self-learning modules, integrated teaching and interactive sessions. The students are taught about the basic part of examination of living and dead and its changes in relation to various medico-legal aspects. The students are also entrained in clinical Forensic Medicine along with the legal and ethical aspects of medical practice. The students are trained in forensic psychiatry along with a toxicological section dealing with various poisoning, Management & Post Mortem examinations. The department possesses all modern teaching facilities to train medical students & to cater medico-legal services to the public at large. It gives an orientation towards legal matters to the medical fraternity. The department conducts research which helps in updating the subject specialty. The forensic medicine department at Rajshree is vibrant and has organized many CME’s, workshops, etc. The department has modern amenities with well-planned and furnished faculty rooms and offices. It is equipped with computers, laptops along with internet facility, departmental research room, an outstanding museum, full time operational staff, library, student laboratory, spacious demo room with OHP and LCD projectors. The museum is equipped with materials of medico legal importance such as specimens, charts, weapons of assault, and chemicals & plants of toxicological importance. The departmental library containsnumerous books and is accessible to faculty members and students, during working hours.
